I head into the workshop when things get considered unusual (for reasons that escape me), because that’s such a poor reason not to make them. Often intended to be handled or operated, these unusual things can be used to control or articulate e.g. the scale, lighting or overall atmosphere of a space: enabling a connection with your environment on a bodily level. Sometimes they’re just charming little practical things though. Most makings are to my own designs, whether or not as an extension of larger spatial plans I made.
